Mexico to Europe adventure (Part two)

A week in Las Vegas was a good time for us to be around our friends, relax, run some errands and catch some allergies too... Luckily we were able to feel better before continuing our adventure.
We decided that our next stop was going to be Santa Fe, New Mexico so we filled up the tank and hit the road again.
It took nine hours to get there but there was so much beauty to admire driving through low and high desert that we decided to take a little detour and appreciate the breath taking red mountains of Sedona, Arizona.

Santa Fe, AZ is a very artsy city with an amazing south western architecture. It's full of galleries, art shops and cute restaurants. It is a walking city and it has lots of outdoor  activities to do, life here feels very relax and the charming environment invites you to stay for long periods of time. We were here at the end of March and to our surprise on the first morning we woke up to a hot coco snowing kind of day.
This is one of my favorite cities within the states, specially because it was here where JJ and I had the opportunity to get married. :O)

Spending few days in Santa Fe gave us time to recharge and keep going with our adventure... Our next stop was the city of Austin, Texas.
After driving eleven hours through pure desert and getting close to the city limits of Austin, we made a wrong turn that took us into a dark spooky road and we were concerned that the villain from the chainsaw massacre was going to appear at any moment. Having those thoughts in the dark is not a good idea, specially when a bunch of deer jumped in front of our truck from the middle of nowhere!
We felt much safer once we made it to the hotel and were able to rest. The following days were about exploring this beautiful city... Divided into sections from charming, historical, eclectic and modern, this place offers a nice fusion life style.
The river goes through the city giving it a good feel and making it a great place for walks. Full of green areas, lakes and a beautiful botanical garden invite you to enjoy the outdoors.

We were having a great time exploring Austin but it was time to hit the road again... I was so excited because our next stop was going to be New Orleans, Louisiana a city that I've always wanted to visit!
Driving south on interstate 10 for almost eight hours was very soothing to the eye, the different shades of green from the trees and fields surrounded by lakes and lagoons was an spectacular scenario... It's amazing what traveling can do for us, even a short drive would help us to get out of the daily routine and forget about our hectic life.
We arrived in New Orleans in the late afternoon and checked in at a cute B&B... The New Orleans Guest House is an old and charming Victorian place situated only a few blocks from the French Quarter, it's not a fancy hotel but comfortable enough for a few days. Here we made some new friends, a bunch of little kitties that loved playing around in the courtyard. :O)
New Orleans is a city with so much history and amazing architecture. Walking around its streets, it's like getting transported to the old times. The French and Spanish influence shows on each of its buildings, streets names, culture and delicious cuisine.
I love visiting cities like this one, where the fusion of cultures made them so unique and gave them a special touch.

It was time to hit the road again but, we couldn't leave New Orleans without having a bowl of Gumbo. This is a traditional Creole seafood soup and it was delicious!
Next stop... Charleston, South Carolina!
To be continue...
