Travels, Challenges and Adventures.: Guanajuato, Mexico.

In the heart of Mexico there is a charming colonial-era city that is known as "La ciudad de las ranas" (The city of frogs). Guanajuato is surrounded by mountains that its early inhabitants said they resembled a frog.
The historical center has a very distinct European flavor with narrow cobblestone streets and callejones (alleyways). The plazas are dotted with sidewalk cafes, museums, theaters, markets and historic monuments. The buildings are a fine example of neoclassical and baroque style colonial architecture. Beneath the city there is an underground network of tunnels that help to control the flow of traffic, making it a very unique place in the world.
This city is known as the birthplace of Mexican independence so it's an important stop along Mexico's independence route, which also visits the nearby towns of Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel de Allende.
Guanajuato is a city of legends and legendary places. El callejon del beso (Alley of the kiss) is an alleyway so narrow that couples can kiss from opposite balconies. The Cervantino Festival is an international performing art festival that was named in honor of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, author of Don Quixote. Famed Mexican muralist Diego Rivera was born in Guanajuato where his former house was converted to a museum.
Life in Guanajuato is amazing! This is a city where you would always find something to do, from enjoying a cup of coffee in the mornings at a quite park, walking around and learning from its history, visiting the silver mines, dinning out and going to a bar or stay in the main plaza and listen to some live music is a good way to finish the day.
The weather in Guanajuato is mild during the day and cooler at night, the cost of living is very affordable making it an ideal place for retirement.
